It is a great little book and would have given it a 5 star except for one thing: the print is so small that I need help reading it. Not until I retired did I have time to indulge in the pastime of collectibles and antiques but now my eyesight is not what it used to be. Print this small is a challenge for many of us older ones.
I had no idea that this was a pocket book, but it is smaller than the Warman's Field Guide books! There are more than 100 pages dedicated solely to silver marks! If I wanted a book on silver marks I would have bought one!Many of the other marks are completely useless to some of us looking for marks commonly found on antiques found in antique shops, flea markets and handed down from relatives. Several marks date to the 1400s. How many people have goods from the 1400s sitting around?! There are three pages dedicated to Chinese ceramic marks and none to Japanese. I found several common marks are absent in this book. Remember that this book is only 5 inches in height and about 4.5 inches across, so that should also help give you an idea of the limited information in this 296 page book. BTW, that 296 pages is including the table of contents and index, so even fewer pages of actual content.I wish I would never have purchased this book. Not the seller's fault! I received it very promptly! It is just that the "More than 6000 marks..." on the cover is very deceptive, in my opinion, due to nearly half the book being devoted solely to silver marks.Save your money and purchase a more comprehensive guide!

Good small book to keep on hand for certain markings on possible purchases of you can properly see the marks
This is a very valuable reference resource to add to one's reference library, especially if one is buying and selling antiques. It isn't the only reference you should have; but, it definitely is a very valuable reference.
It is hard to have a small and concise guide on such a vast subject, however I was a bit disappointed that there weren't more examples. Possibly, for a field guide without internet access, this may be helpful IF you are looking up a mark that happens to be in here.
Really a great reference guide for markings on just about everything. A must have.
