It must be better than I think. I haven't yet had time to sit down and read all the way through it. It leaves me confused as to what I can eat, how much, and what I shouldn't. Instead of providing info on the number of cups or what ever, it provides the number of servings of items. I don't really know what a "serving" is. Maybe a thorough read will make it more clear. It's a fairly small little booklet and it seems to be priced high for it's utility. I'll read more and keep at it...I've read more -- This booklet is a waste of time and money. It's 84 pages in a form similar to a 3x5 card in size. It doesn't explain enough to be usable and often refers to having your RDN (Registered Dietary Nutritionist) advise you on what to eat. The food tables are in servings but you don't know how many servings until you consult your RDN. Possibly it's is written as an ad for RDNs. Skip this booklet and by something usable.
Over priced for such limited information. The ADA should be ashamed to have produced such a useless little guide.
I picked up this little book a couple of months ago and it has really helped with meal planning and more.I have learned that to keep my dad's diabetes and my pre-diabetes under control, I need to plan on eating each day:-6 servings of nonstarchy vegetables and fruits-6 servings of grains, beans and starchy vegetables-2 servings of milk/milk substitutes-6 oz or lower of low-fat proteins-small amounts of fats and/or sugarsI have been following this very loosely, but now I'm amping it up a bit. This morning I had a cup of coffee w/stevia and half 'n half, 1/2 cup of granola w/milk, 1 hardboiled egg, and 4 slices of salami (what? I like salami!).This afternoon I had a 5 oz serving of chicken cordon bleu, 1 1/2 cups of salad w/1,000 isle dressing and 3 pickled okra (don't knock the pickled okra, it's AWESOME).For dinner, I'm planning on oven-baked breaded fish, steamed broccoli with butter, and ... something else. Maybe wild rice?In any case, the little booklet breaks it all down for me and tells me that I have/will eat for the day...-4 servings of non-starchy vegetables (but no fruit)-4 servings of grains, starchy vegetables-1 serving of milk products-10 servings of protein-more than a small amount of fatsBUT...That is still a heck of a lot better than what I had been eating.I won't always be so microscopic on every one of my meals, but this little booklet is a great guide. I suggest it for anyone who is diabetic or pre-diabetic.I give this four stars. I docked one only because there is so much flipping back and forth that it really needs tabs or something to make it easier to use.
This is an excellent little guide for food groupings and their calories. I actually love this little guide and have used it for years, in all the updated editions, to help in calorie counting. If you are sick of Keto and other fad diets and just want some good old fashioned guidelines for help with calories, this is it!
This is a reference guide to the outdated method of the exchange list. I wouldn’t.
thank you receive the second book today. The other books went with my friend to his home. This pocket size book will help me at the Food Market, and how to prepare meals when he comes to visit me. Thank you so much.
not worth the time spent looking at it. serving sizes given but no amounts of carbs
Good book...Remember: It is exactly what it says...POCKET Guide. (A little bigger than an index card)
