Megha Barot Although Megha Barot just graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law, based on her cooking you would think she’d graduated from culinary school. Before I gush, I want to make something clear: I received no discount or incentive whatsoever to leave this review. I do not personally know Megha or Matt, and they wouldn't know me from a hole in the ground. I'm just a big fan of their Keto Connect website and Keto for Normies podcast, and I pre-ordered this book as soon as I heard it was coming out. I figured the cookbook would have some new recipes I hadn't seen on their website, and I wanted to support them--keto has honestly saved my health, and Keto Connect's free online recipes, approachable vibe, friendly attitude and diverse content has kept me from throwing in the towel on more than one occasion--but I honestly didn't expect it to be THIS good. I'm seriously blown away. They knocked it completely out of the park with this book.The cookbook isn't just new recipes. It's a comprehensive, beautifully simple and organized collection of strategies for making a keto lifestyle workable and sustainable, including lots of great recipes. They do a fantastic job of walking folks new to keto through the basic tenets of the lifestyle, include icons to let us know which recipes are nut-free, vegetarian, etc, as well as those that are good for meal prep and those that are officially "fail-proof." They add little tips based on their own preferences and experiences throughout the book, and in the back they even have several separate weekly meal plans for different types of eaters. Megha and Matt's personalities also very much shine through in the book's friendly, conversational tone, which is a particular treat for those of us who are already fans.The recipes are simple--most contain only a handful of affordable and easy to find ingredients, and along with all of the other guidance offered throughout the book, I can honestly say that this is the PERFECT introductory text for those just starting out with keto, as well as a great recipe and idea book for those of us who have been doing keto for awhile.Finally, I very much recommend the paperback. I love my kindle, but the size, layout, and many gorgeous, mouth-watering photos throughout the book are really suited to the paperback edition. There's just something about flipping through a cookbook, especially a big, glossy, photograph-filled edition like this one. If you're wary of spending the money for the paperback, think of it as an investment in your long-term health and wellness, as well as a way to treat yourself to a truly enjoyable visual indulgence.Megha and Matt clearly worked hard to make a perfect cookbook. Trust me, you need this book, and you will not regret buying it. Yes, I know we can all get great keto recipes, tips and meal planning ideas online for free, but this book was well worth every penny, and I know I'll be using it on a very regular basis.This is easily the best purchase I've made on Amazon this year.Treat yo' self. DO IT.
Remember all those carb loaded foods that you loved before going Keto? Well, this cookbook has keto friendly recipes for most of them. Some examples include cornbread, cheddar jalapeño bagels, granola, waffles, pizza, tacos, cake, cookies and more. I could go on forever listing all the amazing food in this cookbook.This cookbook also includes six different meal plans for different styles of keto eating. Got a sweet tooth? Are you a vegetarian? Like variety? This cookbook has got you covered.There is even a suggested reading section in the back of the book for researching keto for yourself. Along with a list of staple keto ingredients and ready made snacks.This is a great cookbook for anyone who is interested in starting the keto diet but doesn’t know where to start.If you still need convincing, you should try some of the recipes on their website (ketoconnect.net) or check out their YouTube channel. I made one of their mug cakes (not included in the cookbook but free on their website) and I was hooked. I don’t think I could survive being keto without their recipes.Side note: I did notice that sugar alcohols are listed in some recipes. I’m not sure if you’re suppose to subtract them or not. I don’t think you are (considering in some recipes sugar alcohols are greater than the total carbs - see pictures). My only complaint would be that is a little unclear and confusing.
I researched the keto lifestyle and came upon Matt and Megha of Keto Connect, that was a life-changing moment! I have followed them daily for the last six months and have enjoyed making their recipes. Through them I have gained so much knowledge on the keto lifestyle and I've passed it on to many friends and relatives. I have anxiously awaited this cookbook and I am not disappointed. This cookbook is a must-have if you are thinking about starting the keto lifestyle or have been doing it for sometime… The recipes are fantastic and easy to make. It really helps because the macros are listed for each recipe to help you keep on track. Congratulations on a job well done Matt and Megha!!! This book far exceeded my expectations!! Matt and Megha clearly explain the ins and outs of how to use the book and recipes. I really love that there is a visual recipe index. That makes it so much easier to find a recipe! Many simple recipes are included in the book, with 4-8 ingedients. Even the recipes with longer lists are usually long due to the amount of seasonings. There is not a huge variety of ingredients you need either. If you've been doing keto already, you probably will have most of the ingredients they call for. Most ingredients are readily available in the store or on Amazon. So glad I bought this book!!! Thanks, Matt and Megha!
This book is awesome! I’ve been following Keto Connect for a while, so I when I heard they were coming out with a cookbook I immediately preordered it. I’ve read a few ‘easy Keto’ cookbooks but this book nicely straddles the line between stupid easy and totally delicious. With this cookbook, I feel like I’ll be able to stay on track with keto without being doomed to bland chicken and broccoli dinners. Can’t wait to try it all, thanks Matt and Megha!
I usually don't buy cookbooks because of the internet; but I HAD to get this book. Megha and Matt have been such an inspiration to the Keto community. This is their first cookbook and wanted to support them to say thank you for making this journey to a healthier lifestyle easier! What I like about this cookbook is all the macros are listed for every recipe; it makes tracking your meals so much easier.
